I started WM Designs with a dream to bring ethical aesthetics to the world. My desire is to bring beauty to the world in a way that preserves it and helps it thrive, rather than destroys it.
I believe that good design all comes down to connection. Connection with ourselves and our desires. Connections with others around us. And connection with the community and natural world we live in. Successful style and design are the true expression of those connections.
Originally I began my career as a counselor, as I wanted to help others and felt that was the best way to do so. I connected with others, learned how to help them connect with themselves and gained a thorough understanding of how people think, feel and behave.
Eventually I found myself drawn to the business side of healthcare and realized my desire to help make the counselors' jobs easier and more efficient by working with the systems within the business. So for the next several years, I developed business skills such as innovation, research and systems work.
Ultimately, what I realized after giving all my blood, sweat, tears and years of time and energy to the healthcare industry, was that while it fulfilled my desire to help others, it did not fulfill any of my other desires.

From a very early age, I was always drawn to beautiful things. I love the feeling of a soft blanket, the way a fur throw pillow invites comfort, the way gold sparkles in the light and gives off a feeling of luxury. I love the way a clean, organized room can evoke a sense of peace or the way a dark and bold room can inspire feelings of mystery and sensuality.

But like most childhood loves, "frivolity" gave way to practicality and I learned to nurture things like logic and reasoning rather than feelings and desires. That is...until recently!
Recently I began a journey to "find my true purpose in life." While I had learned a LOT over the past 20 years in my various roles and jobs, I felt strongly that there was something missing. Like I just wasn't living the full extent of what was possible or what could make me happy. It probably didn't help that the past 10 years had been rough on the behavioral healthcare industry.
So when the opportunity presented itself, I took it and began connecting with myself again in hopes of finding my life's purpose. During this time, I rediscovered 3 things: my desire to help others by sharing my gifts, my passion for promoting a sustainable/ethical world for us all to live in and my joy for the way that beautiful things make us feel.
And so...WM Designs was born!

Ultimately, WM Designs was created out of necessity. Looking around my small town, I noticed a distinct lack of variety in the styles portrayed in the homes as well as the local shops. In addition, during conversations with friends and family, I realized that while spending hours designing room concept boards on Pinterest, shopping for home goods and researching ethical brands was something I do for fun, not everyone felt this way.

And so, I developed WM Designs as an opportunity to provide support for others as they design their dream space or pull off that amazing dinner party, in a way that feels fun, exciting and is good not only for them, but for the world around them as well!
